Let me start by saying Lux is terrific and we were lucky to have them for our project: going from a 2bed/1 bath with a garage to a 3 bed/2 bath and a 1 bed/1 bath ADU. Sagi, his core of 8 or so skilled workers, the sub-contractors, the office staff, all of them were just great to work with. We lived in our house while the work went on (which was hard, I don’t recommend it if you can afford not to) and we saw these guys every day. They were always hard working and friendly, just a great bunch of guys. Before we met Sagi we thought the way things worked for a remodel like ours was you hire an architect, then the contractor. So we met with a few and they were all great, but they wanted a large percentage of our budget. Sagi said design and drawings were all part of Lux’s process because they use an in-house architect. What we got was an innovative, functional design that, most importantly for us, kept the spirit and vibe of our 1942 Westchester home but brought it up to present-day standards. It all starts and ends with Sagi, he sets the tone for his company and that’s a good thing because he is honest, very capable in his work, and a fun, soulful guy. Changes are going to happen and Sagi, who was on-site every day, managed them, explained them to us, and helped to find creative solutions. He shopped with us for tile and fixtures, and had a lot of recommendations for our many other purchases. The house is now done, thankfully, and it took just under a year to complete (Covid-19 didn’t help the schedule). As I sit here writing this, I look around and see the before/after in my head and it’s great. We cannot recommend Sagi and Lux highly enough, I hope you can book him for your project.
Lux Builders is everything you want your contractor to be: Smart, Fair, Organized, Professional, On time, etc. We are incredibly pleased with the quality of work and the attention to detail that everyone that worked on our project demonstrated. Everyone at Lux made project just go so smoothly, we couldn’t be happier.
Also knowing that this is for your benefit. Our only issue was that timelines were not in line with projections and we understand we likely contributed to some of the delays, in the end there wasn’t a priority placed on getting the job done in a reasonable amount of time. Overall the project was initially supposed to be done September and wasn’t completed until January – after the holidays. All in all a great experience and no regrets from us in using Lux Builders
Overall we were very pleased with the work, the people and the finished product. Lux Builders clearly understood our vision for what we were trying to accomplish and the quality of the work was excellent and truly enhanced the value of our home. Everyone we dealt with was extremely kind, thoughtful, professional and skilled at their specific craft or job.
We worked with Lux Builders to completely redo our master bathroom from the ground up. While renovation is always stressful, Sagi and his team were so amazing to work with from the design to the completed bathroom. During the initial estimate, Sagi was very clear about the process, what to expect, and when to expect it. Throughout construction, the crew were courteous, worked quickly, and did a fantastic job all around! The office was always available to help me when I had a question or concern too. We highly recommend Lux Builders and hope to work with them again on future projects!
The house had a depressing old look and feel, but I had learned to ignore it, until I had a severe water leak. After fixing the leak I had to start looking for someone to fix the paint and damage from it. After getting several competitive quotes, I chose Lux Builders. Lux seemed very knowledgeable, listened to my concerns, and the price seemed very reasonable. Lux were willing to be flexible and catered to my abilities and needs. I was very very nervous, and I was afraid that by myself and with no help I would not be able to prepare the house and do what was needed, including taking decisions if something went wrong.Start day came quickly. I received instructions on how to prepare the first room, and I was told that the teams would help with emptying my closet and I should not be worried about it (what a relief). For two weeks that was the scenario: I would get instructions and I would do the easy preparations while the teams did the heavy lifting. After two weeks during which I and my boys were able to use the house with some limitations, I now have a completely new house! I have new paint all over including doors, cabinets, new handles, and knobs, new backsplash, new electric switches and outlets, new lighting features and a completely new refreshing and happy design look and feel.If I had known that the project would be such a worry free experience I would have done it few years ago. The three main elements that made it a pleasant, stress-free experience were:1. Design plan that was exactly how I would want it. Lux Builders knew how to suggest ideas according to my taste and budget. 2. The work at the house was managed completely by Lux so I didn’t have to worry about any issues while the work was performed. In many cases I Lux suggested things that I didn’t know could be done, and upgraded the house dramatically. 3. Lux’s team were amazing–they cleaned each room as soon as they were finished with it, which allowed me to move in and use the room after they had moved to the next. When all was finished, Lux sent a special cleaning service that cleaned the house inside and out, including windows, leaving the entire house shiny and smelling great!I can’t tell you how happy we are with the results—each day we open our eyes to a completely new house. The results are amazing, and the pictures speak for themselves. I highly recommend Lux Builders, and if you are worried about the experience, please don’t, it is exciting and fun! Thank you, Lux Builders, you have changed our lives!
Lux Builders recently completed a total remodel on my kitchen and the entire process from start to finish was exactly what you would hope for – but rarely actually experience – in a home remodel. If I could give more than five stars, I would. Sagi and every single member of his team were not only a genuine pleasure to know on a personal level, but they are all total professionals who clearly take pride in their work and were dedicated to doing the best job possible on my project. I appreciated that. Pricing was very reasonable, and I definitely felt I was getting my money’s worth. My home is very old (93!) so when the inevitable unforeseen issues popped up, Sagi and his team were on it quickly and with wonderful ideas that didn’t slap on a huge cost. Sagi has many great contacts so when it comes time to pick out materials that’s a big help. The team kept my home relatively clean throughout the job. The project was completed quickly and on time. My new kitchen is absolutely gorgeous and I could not be happier! Next time this old house needs work I know exactly who I’m calling. Thank you Sagi and Lux Builders!
I am thrilled with my new kitchen! I appreciated the professionalism and high quality work from everyone at Lux.
Sagi, Melvin, and their crew turned our outdated kitchen and living room in Ladera, into our DREAM home!!!We unfortunately share the same stories with others; paying an architect for work they never completed, experiencing major delays with a contractor and their crew, and/or disorganized bookkeeping and misquoting of fees.I found Lux Builders on Houzz and the pictures of their projects resembled the look we wanted to achieve with our own home. We met with Sagi a few times and he provided us with a detailed list of work, costs associated, and costs that would need to be covered outside of the project. We started the demo on December 11th, 2017 and it was such a great experience!*SCOPE OF WORK*-Approximately 1,000+ square feet for kitchen and living room and approximately 2,000 square feet of flooring. (Marble to wood flooring) -Demo, framing, and open up living room and kitchen -Turn pantry into half bath -Update front entrance and replace front door -Update lighting, HVAC, move laundry room*HIGHLIGHTS* 1. My husband and I are organized, efficient, and diligent and WE had to make sure we kept up with their requests once the project began! They work non-stop and the crews are so punctual!!!2. Lux Builders requires all their workers to wear their Lux Builders t-shirt, which helps when you’re a woman alone at the house project managing and the demo guys, plumbers, electricians, and rest of the crew are constantly in and out.3. They keep your home as clean as possible during the project! We lived in the back half of the house, so we walked through a plastic zip tarp to get in and out of our bedroom. And once the wood floors were laid, the crew always removed their shoes before entering the house.4. Sagi helped us shop for fixtures, appliances, flooring, and cabinets *before* the project began, so we were prepared. Lux Builders has great relationships and you’re able to leverage their discounts!5. Constant communication, great follow up, and Sagi and Melvin will ask along the way HOW you want things (ex. exact placement of hardware on cabinets, specific look of baseboards, etc)Sagi and Melvin are honest, kind, and always brought a positive attitude to the job site. Mindy at the office is responsive and so sweet! My husband and I are so grateful for choosing Lux Builders to remodel our home and we look forward to working with them on our next projects!!!
Better Late Than Never…(similar review on LuxBuilders website)The above title of our review is not because my wife & I were dissatisfied with the work, but because we seamlessly went on with our lives after our kitchen & family room were remodeled. The entire process from contract to completion was about 6 months, i.e., December 2018 thru Mid-June 2019. The total cost for us was about $60,000. Even when we slightly changed our minds several times in the direction for the project, Sagi & and his colleagues accepted the changes amiably. We were kept informed of the process every step of the way. We were very pleased on how the project turned out. In fact, we recently had guests for a holiday party, and everyone was very impressed with the design & craftsmanship, especially the kitchen. We will seriously consider having Sagi & his colleagues do another remodeling project for us in the future. Bravo Sagi! I salute you sir!Andrew C Edna C Glendale, California December 24, 2019
After talking to a number of building contractors we chose Sagi Paul and were not disappointed. I married Heather from Melbourne, Australia in 2013. She left her beautiful house, her job, all her friends, and her family (including three daughters) to live with me in San Pedro. Heather is a fantastic cook and has wonderful artistic taste in design. I wanted to have the kitchen, master bath, and adjoining areas of our house remodeled to conform with her tastes to show my appreciation for the sacrifices she made to bring happiness to my life. After two years of enjoying the renovation that Sagi accomplished I can only say that I continue to be thrilled with the result. Thanks to Sagi, Heather now loves the house, which she considers her home too. I was impressed that Sagi has found top quality craftsmen for all stages and aspects of construction (demolition, framing, electrical, plumbing, cabinetry, appliances, windows, heating and a/c, and finish work. He demands the highest quality from his workers and they clearly respect him and enjoy working for him. The job took a bit longer than originally predicted, but we had a number of change orders as our vision changed slightly as the job progressed. Sagi kept his crew working until the job was done. Great care was taken to protect the remainder of the house from the construction dust and his cleaning crew of charming ladies meticulously removed all the remaining traces of the extensive work that had been done. You can see our project on his website: ‘Beach Cottage Custom Kitchen Remodeling, etc.’ currently in the lower left corner of the remodel array. Thank you Sagi! Sincerely, Bill & Heather
Five years ago, we had Lux Builders remodel 2 of our 1960’s bathrooms. We had such a positive experience with the remodel, that we had them come back to do our kitchen that was also original to the build . We had new cabinets, countertops, tile and appliances installed. Hardwood floors replaced vinyl in the kitchen, the carpet in the living/dining room and on the stairs.Sagi Paul, the owner, pulls all permits and arranges for the inspections. He recommended places to go for flooring, tile and appliances, and because of his relationships with them, we were able to get supplies at a discount. He employs his own crew of painters, plumbers, electricians, tilers, and construction workers, so the project moves in a timely manner. The workers arrived everyday on time, and cleaned up before leaving. They take pride in their work and are true craftsmen.Sagi treats his employees well and with respect, so it isn’t any wonder that some employees have stayed with him for years. (It was nice to see some of them return to work on our house.) Everyone at Lux, from the office staff (Mindy and Tommie), project manager (Melvin), and the construction crew, were so pleasant and professional.Sagi was easy to work with, and he responded quickly to any questions and concerns that we had. We highly recommend Lux Builders for your home remodeling needs
